Jardine Allen is a senior in aerospace engineering with an interest in working in GNC within the space industry. During her time at Michigan, she has interned for BAE Systems, McMaster-Carr, and CesiumAstro. She has been an IA for two robotics classes, and spent summer 2024 conducting research looking into predicting solar wind utilizing the AWSoM in the UMich CLASP department. She is also a Zed Factor Fellow. Having been a part of BSA since freshman year, she is excited to see its growth and how she can further impact the organization's development. In her free time, she likes to play piano, swim, write poetry, and learn Dutch and Mandarin.
Joshua Miller is someone whose always trying to help. He's done mentoring for First Robotics teams and was a robotics team captain for 4 years. His hobbies are gaming, model kits, and computer technology.
Faith is a sophomore from Long Island, New York studying Aerospace engineering. She is currently the Aerospace Vehicle Designer for professor Anouck Girard’s research group where she and the team are working to design an autonomous autonomous aerospace vehicle built to perform precise plant analysis for large environments. During her free time she enjoys long-distance running, crochet, and reading.
Daniel Fairfax is a Senior Aerospace Engineering student from Los Angeles, CA. He is a Dual-Degree Engineering transfer student from Morehouse College, where he majored in Applied Physics and minored in Mathematics. While at Morehouse, he assisted the University of Michigan Robotics 102 instructors in developing and testing projects for the new course. He also conducted research with Georgia Institute of Technology on "Unveiling Energy Pathways in AGN Accretion Flows with the Warm Corona Model for the Soft Excess." At Michigan, Daniel was the Risk Manager and Testing subteam member for the MBOP-L project team. He spent the Summer of 2024 at Northrop Grumman in Palmdale, CA as Stress Analyst Intern for the B-21 program. During his free time, he enjoys swimming/diving, solving Rubik's cubes, playing video games, and watching shows.
Lania Brown is a junior Aerospace engineering student minoring in computer science from Euclid, Ohio. During her Freshman and Sophomore year she was a manufacturing and software subteam member for the student project team M-Fly where she worked on their autonomous planes Mat-4 and Mat-5. She is a research assistant in the Intelligent Robotics and Autonomy Laboratory under Professor Tzoumas and the software subteam lead for M-LAPIS. During the summer of 2024, Lania completed a control systems internship with Honeywell Aerospace where she worked on the virtual models of Honeywell engines. During her free time, Lania enjoys reading, playing video games, and hiking.
Emerald is in her fourth year studying Robotics, with an interest in using AI and robots to assist in space exploration. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, watching movies and shows, and playing video games. She mentors Detroit high school students for the FIRST Robotics Competition, has been part of Black Students in Aerospace since her freshman year, occasionally takes part in activities with the National Society of Black Engineers, and serves as an instructional aide for ROB 101: Computational Linear Algebra.
Bailey Norwood is a third year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering for Computer Science Engineering. She has hopes of doing cybersecurity work and robotics work in the aerospace industry. She was a Patti Grace Smith Fellow for the 2024 class. She has a passion for outreach and teaching. In her academics, she plans on pursuing her masters then PH.D with the goal of later in life teaching and giving back to others. Her career passions are cybersecurity, cyber defense, and robotics.
Alan is a focused individual with a wide ranges of experiences: secondary education, data analytics, and systems engineering. Alan is passionate about bringing equal opportunity to students of all backgrounds.
Joshua was a part of the 2023-2024 Bioastronautics and Life Support Systems Team (BLiSS) which enabled him to get hands on experience with machinery to create a viable exercise machine for future astronaut use on Mars habitats. He also have 5+ years of volunteer tutoring experience for K-12 students and volunteer for Special Olympics Michigan. In his career, he hopes to gain experience in both the commercial aviation and space sectors of aerospace, preferring to begin with the former and end my career in the latter. He's also developed an interest in the biological aspect of human space exploration and may consider a potential career path centered around it.
The President shall be the liaison for the department, elected officers, and general members of BSA. They will inform members of general announcements, lead all meetings, and hold other officers accountable for their roles.
The Treasurer handles all dues and accounts. They are also the point of contact of the BSA SOAS account. Other duties of this role include Developing a business plan for upcoming school year, searching and applying for grants, donations, fellowships, sponsorships, etc.
The Membership Development Chair plays a crucial role in fostering the academic and professional growth of first and second-year students within our organization. This role is dedicated to providing resources, guidance, and support to help these students thrive in both their academic pursuits and future careers.
The Event Coordinators will invite speakers, provide logistical support to the speakers, work with school administrators to reserve event locations and support services, and be responsible for coordinating with the External Communications Chair to advertise professional, education, and technical events.
The Outreach Chair will be responsible for handling communication that includes outside organizations and resources. Other duties include: Organizing regular workshop planning meetings to create and update outreach material for K-12 ages, communicating as the main point of contact with professors, student organization representatives, and other parties to organize potential collaborative outreach efforts, etc.
The Conference Planning Chair will create preliminary and final budgets for conference expenses. Assist the Treasurer and Finance Committee with fundraising efforts to support conference expenses. Purchase necessary conference expenses such as flights and hotels and ensure that all participating members are purchasing registrations and tickets.
The Social Media Coordinator will be in charge of publicizing BSA to the world through social media mediums. This role mainly focuses on expanding Instagram and Digital website footprint.
